Casa Verde

M6, Junction 40

A greenery-fringed restaurant with Italian sensibilities, which translates to full flavours and creative use of vegetables, such as this spinach and vanilla cheese cake!

Beetham Nurseries

M6, Junction 35

A beautiful garden setting with a fair selection of vegetarian dishes, from grilled pear, walnut and stilton salad to veggie stacks of grilled aubergine, tomato and mushroom drizzled with yoghurt and mint.

The Applestore Cafe

M6, Junction 33

An idyllic setting in a Victorian greenhouse at the edge of gorgeous parkland, it’s only fitting that the Applestore caters to plant-based diets too. Lunch on vegan-friendly barm cakes with fillings such as hummus, roasted red pepper and spiced carrot, or start the day with these ‘healthy’ waffles which switch bacon for berries (and lashing of cream).

The Terrace

M6, Junction 20

All dietary requirements are catered to at the Terrace with flair. Tuck into smashed avocados on sourdough with a poached egg and basil oil, or falafel pittas with soya yoghurt. Very vegan-friendly.

The Ethicurean

M5, Junction 22

Vegetable-focused dishes in a heavenly kitchen garden at the edge of the Mendips. Expect kimchi and butterbean dip,  and imaginative dishes such as roasted brassica tops, apricot labneh, pickled kohl rabi & smoked almonds. Booking recommended – it’s very popular.

The Almond Thief

A38, South Brent

A good selection of veggie dishes. They change regularly but might include chickpea and lemon soup and Moroccan spiced pancakes with poached egg, beetroot and avocado.

Riverford Field Kitchen

A38, Buckfastleigh

Based on the family’s organic veg farm, vegetables and herbs are picked from the field daily and conjured into lip-smacking feasts served at communal tables.

The Trading Post and Railway Carriage Cafe

A303, South Petherton

Specialists in organic, vegetarian and vegan food, served in a vintage railway carriage. Wonderful food to match a blissful setting.

Cafe Medina

A40, Junction A478

An intimate and friendly cafe in Wales’ foodie hotspot, where owner Helen cooks up spectacular dishes with Middle Eastern flavours and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
